Death and Life Chapter 13 -- Part 1
Congregation sings
“Only Believe”.
Let us bow our
heads.
Precious Father, we
know that all things are possible to them that believe. We know that there’s
nothing that can be impossible to You if we have that faith, Lord, to move those
things that You said to the disciples in the 11th Chapter of Mark, “If we say to
this mountain, be plucked up and cast into the midst of the sea and don’t doubt
in our heart, we can have what we said.” Lord we know that’s one of the promises
that goes along with a Christian life. And we know, Lord, that our prophet
reached that place and he saw the
effects, he saw it actually materialize right before him, We know that You’re
the same God today. Lord, we know that You understand our needs here. You
understand our spiritual status before You. You understand Lord, that brother
Tiny is suffering now and he’s been there, now, on that respirator for a week
today. Lord we believe that you’re
able to bring him out. The work that he’s done here, Lord, is a testimony
that’ll stand, Father, through out eternity. He’s done everything he could to
get this message out across the land, even into the different parts of the world
to prove, Lord, that you’re God. Lord Jesus, now his work has slowed down by the
hand of Satan, afflicted his body. We pray, Lord, that you’ll be merciful this
morning and give him grace Lord, and let him rise from there and start breathing
on his own again, and be back in the house of the Lord, back into the work of
the ministry, Lord, that You have appointed him to. Grant it to us this morning
Lord, that our hearts might be open to receive the Word as it comes forth, and
there might not be no rejection of It because we realize that You’ve said that
every jot and every tittle must be fulfilled. We know that’s got to be done in
our lives, Lord. I pray that You’d help us to overcome the little things Lord,
the little foxes that spoil the vines. Help us Lord, that we might be anointed
afresh daily, to face the cares and the toils of life Lord, the disappointments
and things that come. We know that You have made us human beings, that we are
subject to all kinds of these things Lord, but You said with every trial and
every temptation, You’ve made a way of escape. What a promise that is! Be with
us now Lord, and speak to us through that Word. We ask in Jesus’ Name, the Son
of Man. Amen.
You may be
seated.
It’s good to be
here this morning and to have this opportunity to see you again. We’ve got a few
people out yet. We know that we’re still holding on for Brother Tiny. I know
that you understand, that if you’ll remember when I told you, when I first went
out there on Thursday evening, (the Thursday that he went to the hospital), I
told you he was a sick man. He has been at death’s door, now for... ever since
they got him in the hospital, last Thursday past, was a week ago. Last Sunday
night, Sunday evening sometime late, they put him on the respirator. And he’s
been there now a week. We know that Sister Juanita has held right there and
believed and she has not flinched one bit. She believes that he’s coming out. So
the church really needs to get ahold of God, and I know you have been praying.
We need to really exercise our faith in the behalf of Brother Tiny and pray that
Sister Juanita will hold up.
Now some of the
people... Of course my wife and I, Sister Pauletta, Sister White and Sister
Rhonda... So many of you have been going up, you know, to relieve her a little
bit and let her get out, you know, and do some of the things that she has to do.
Shestaying there every night, every night she’s there. You know you don’t get
much rest up there, people coming in and out, all kind of disturbance. Maybe
somebody being brought in right at the point of death and the family disturbed,
you know, all emotional movements. There's not no rest there. And so, we need to
really stand by Sister Juanita and help her every way we can, because she’s
really got something on her hands that she needs help with. Amen. So I know
you’ll do that.
Alright, do you
love Him? Amen. Now Wednesday night... I think one of the most important things
that I was trying to emphasize, or to be emphatic about, was that, He is the chief
Shepherd of the sheep. I wanted us to see that, that He’s both Lord and Priest
and Prince and Lawyer and Judge, and He’s the Shepherd. He’s the Shepherd of the
sheep. He owns the sheep. Amen. And those that He owns, they’re His. He bought
them, He paid a price for them. He didn’t do that to lose them. Of course, He
searches way in the night, as we’d like to put it, when most people are asleep,
if He thinks that one of His sheep is in trouble. Amen.
And that’s, I
think, the way that we should be about one another. We should be so sincere
about each other and about the welfare spiritually, especially that we ought to
make sure that we do everything we can to keep that spiritual life, you know,
the flame burning. Amen. We don’t never want it to get down low. We never want
that spiritual flame to cease to function, because if it does, then, what is it?
Its death. Remember our topic when we took this series, “Life or Death Is Set
Before You”. As I told the brethren back there awhile ago, “To reject this Word
is death, to receive it is Life.” That’s not reject a paragraph, that’s to
reject one word. To reject one word of the revealed Truth of this day is death.
To receive all of It is eternal life. Amen.
The political world
is getting worse and worse. We’re in a lot of trouble with the world now. The
leaders of the nation are very upset with our president because of what he did,
going in there to Iraq and bombing and killing some of the innocent people.
(Brother Holmes speaks about loosing his tie.) Now I’m having a hard time
getting this thing unbuttoned, and I’m going to get it unbuttoned or bust the
button, one of the two. I am not going to go choking. Alright. Sometimes they
want to give you a problem, you know, they don’t want to come unbuttoned. I know
one time I just busted the button off because I get to preaching like...
Sometimes I get to preaching and I need a little more room. Sometimes, I guess
your vocal cords begin to swell up a little bit when you get all excited or
something. So I got to have enough room to talk. Amen. Since I got this mike I
got enough room to move around. I really like that. It’s been a blessing to me
and I appreciate it. It may distract your attention, I hope it doesn’t, because
when I get to feeling what I’m talking about I want to move about. Amen. It’s
really something to praise God about and to be happy about! As Brother Don was
talking about that ‘peace’, you know, as I was trying to express that Wednesday
night that He paid for that peace. It’s our’s and He can give it to you. He said
“My peace I give unto you.” Amen. And so, we know that that is one thing that
will destroy Satan quicker than anything else, is for you to have peace in your
heart. Peace in your heart, peace
like a river Amen.
Alright. So I want
to call your attention this morning back in Exodus again. We just keep moving a
little bit at a time here. We’re on a big subject, now, this morning and, of
course, it’ll probably take about three services to cover this one passage of
Scripture here that I’m going to read. I want to read from the 30th Chapter of
Exodus. I want to start reading at Verse 22. We’ll probably read down through
33, probably. That’s about ten or eleven verses.
Moreover
the Lord spake unto Moses, saying.
Take
thou also unto thee principal spices, of pure myrrh five hundred shekels, and
of sweet cinnamon half so much, even two hundred and fifty shekels, and of
sweet calamus two hundred and fifty shekels,
And
of cassia five hundred shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary, and of oil
olive an hin:
And
thou shalt make it an oil of holy ointment, an ointment compound after the art
of the apothecary:...
I don’t know
whether I’m pronouncing that right or not, that might be
close.
...it
shall be an holy anointing oil.
A holy anointing
oil. I want you to listen real close to rest of this, because you can see so
much that He’s speaking of that’s happening, actually,
today.
And
thou shall anoint the tabernacle of the congregation therewith, and the ark of
the testimony,
And
the table and all his vessels, and the candlestick and his vessels, and the
alter of incense.
Every one of these
things represented something. Did you notice, everyone of these had to be
anointed? See? The tabernacle, not the people, see. Did you get that? But the
tabernacle that they were to come into was anointed, and all of these parts, the
mercy seat, everything.
And
the alter of burnt offering with all his vessels, and the laver and his foot.
And
thou shalt sanctify them, that they may be most holy: whatsoever toucheth them
shall be holy.
Isn’t that
something? Whatsoever touches them shall be holy.
And
thou shall anoint Aaron and his sons, and consecrate them, that they may
minister unto me in the priest’s office.
Now I want to stop
right there and ask you, do you understand that when Aaron was anointed that his
sons was anointed with him? Not literally. They did not literally receive an
anointing. They received an anointing through Aaron, the high priest. There was
no oil. I can prove it to you by the Bible that they did not anoint the sons.
Now, something else I want you to notice. One anointing was enough. In other
words, what I am trying to say is, one high priest anointed. When Eleazar, the
son of Aaron... when time for Aaron to go off the scene, what did Moses do? He
took the robe off Aaron and put it on Eleazer. He did not anoint him, because
the anointing was still there. See? This is much deeper than a lot of people
ever look at and think. The power of God. Amen. Watch now.
And
thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, This shall be an holy
anointing oil unto me throughout your generations.
Upon
man’s flesh shall it not be poured,...
See? Brother
Branham said you could be anointed on the flesh, you can be anointed on the
spirit, and go to hell. See?
...Neither
shall ye make any other like it,...
No impersonation.
Are you getting it? No impersonation.
...after
the composition of it: it is holy, and it shall be holy unto you.
Whosoever
compoundeth any like it,... (Huh? whosoever impersonates. Watch)
...or whosoever putteth any of it upon a stranger, shall even be cut off from
his people.
A very special
ointment. So, for a subtitle on this one, we want to look at “The Anointing
Oil”, the anointing oil. Of course, you got what it was made of. First of all
there was one hin of pure olive oil, alright? And then, of course, to this was
added five hundred of myrrh. And then you notice the next two was split, two
hundred and fifty each. Of cinnamon, two hundred and fifty, and the calamus, two
hundred and fifty, which made one five hundred, see, which would be three, not
four. Alright. And then, of cassia, five hundred
So, we find out
that... Now let’s look at this myrrh for a little bit. Like I told some of the
brethren back there awhile ago, I said; “It seems like, that this message this
morning should be a message of edification, a message of praise, a message of
worship, a message of looking at yourself and thinking what God has done for
you. And then, you know, accept that and act on it. How many of you remember the
little message that I brought back, some time ago, and I titled it, “We Are What God Says We
Are”, you remember that? Not what the world says we are, we’re what God says we
are. Amen. If we listen to every body else, (and they’ll put you down and
they’ll talk about you and accuse you and everything), if you look at that, the
first thing you know, you’ll get down like an old chicken. How many of you ever
seen an old chicken when he’s coming in out of the rain? It’s a pitiful looking
thing isn’t it? I mean he’s all drooped down, you know, and he’s coming in and
his tail’s dragging the ground, feathers, you know dragging. And some times when
we get out there under the influence of Satan’s darts and all. We get so beat
and battered down until we look like that old chicken. When we come in, you
know... Why, we forget who we are! See? We’re not chickens. What are we? Eagles!
You don’t never see an Eagle... his feathers’ is not going to get wet, I don’t
care how much it rains. Huh? He’s like a duck. Amen. No sir, he’s going to be
just as strong in a storm, as he is out. I’ll tell you, its amazing, to think
about an Eagle and to think about the comparison between that and the children of
God.
Lets look at this
myrrh a little bit. It come, actually, from the word... I went back and
searched, the old writings of the Hebrew and the Greek, just to see what these
things mean. Myrrh is spoken of all through the Bible. And so, it links up with
the word “pure”. Pure. Myrrh is attach to that. And then, it also is attached to
a Hebrew Word like, (drohr), is the way you pronounce that, the Hebrew word, and
it means “liberty”. How many of you know what liberty is? To be liberated. Don’t
have no chains on you. Don’t have no guilt, no condemnation. Liberated from
Satan, from his power, Amen. So I want to you to think about it. Turn with me to
Isaiah, and this is very familiar Scripture, you know, all of you could quote it
probably, but I want you to read it. I want you to turn and read it. It’s Isaiah
61, Verse 1. I’m going to take my time this morning, because I want to read some
of these Scriptures. I told one brother back there, I said, “I won’t have time
to read all of them.” But I want to read some of them, so that you can look at
it. Alright.
The
sprit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach
good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to
proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that
are bound,
Then on down, it
says,
To
proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God;
to comfort all that mourn.
Now that is
declaring liberty. That passage of Scripture is actually declaring liberty.
Alright. Now... The spirit of the Lord being upon him as he was anointed.
Alright, now this anointing that was upon Him was the anointing of the Holy
Ghost. We know that. Alright. This oil, (this anointing that was used back there
over the furniture, the tabernacle, the alter and so forth, and then upon the
high priest), was a type of the true anointing that was coming upon someone else
that was going to proclaim liberty. Now I just want to talk to you a little bit.
How many of you have ever really, really, and I’m not going to ask you to raise
your hands, but how many of you have ever really got down and studied what the
Lord Jesus is? All through the Bible, every Scripture that mentions Him, and
look at it, and see what it is. Amen.
Now notice what
this high priest was doing. Brother Gerald, he could not go in, nobody could go
in behind that veil but one person. One person, is the only person that could go
in behind that veil. And he could only go in there once a year. Alright. Now, he
could not go in there without a special chemical that he had to carry. What was
it? Blood, he had to carry blood. He had carry a token for those people. What he
was doing, Brother Chris, was proclaiming liberty for those people. He was
identifying every one of those people, (everyone of the children of Israel that
was under that covenant),
he was identifying them with the blood of the animal that had been
brought and had give his life. And here he’s taking the blood, (the chemical,
the chemistry), he’s taking it in there, and what this does, is bring about a
jubilee for those people for another year. See?
But it wasn’t
something that would last eternally. It was something that would only last for a
year. It would not take away the conscience of sin, but it would liberate them
from the sin that they had already done, see. But the thing that made them do it
was still there. And so they were liberated, then, for a whole year, they had a
jubilee. Yes sir, they were free! They had an absolute jubilee and that’s what
that represented. You’ve heard Brother Branham talk about jubilee. They could
bring nothing against them, nothing against them because they had done what was
supposed to have been done, what was required of them. They had brought their
offerings, and they had the rituals that was suppose to be carried out and
everything, and then the high priest had done his work. He had represented
everyone of them with the blood and sprinkled the altar with it. Amen. So now,
then they are set at liberty now. Alright.
Now. I’m going to
go to a little book that I hardly ever read from. I hardly ever read from this
book, from the pulpit. It’s not that Idon’t believe it, but it just don’t fit in
to many of my messages, I mean, you know, to expound upon it. But this
particular message it does because we’re talking about the anointing oil.
Alright. Now, if you want to turn with me to the Song of Solomon, (the Song of
Solomon) and I’m going to be going through there a little bit. First of all, I’d
like for us to go to Chapter 5. I want you to notice Verse
5.
I
rose up to open to my beloved; (Now this
must be the Bride. This must be the Bride.) and my hands
dropped with myrrh, and my fingers with sweet smelling myrrh, upon the handles
of the lock.
The Bride opening
to her lover, (the Bridegroom). Now go to Verse 13. Go to Verse 13 and let’s
look at it.
His
cheeks are as a bed of spices, (this is
the Bridegroom.)
as sweet flowers: his lips like lilies, dropping sweet smelling myrrh.
Think about that.
Now this is the Bride rising to open the door to the Bridegroom and then her
hands are dripping with myrrh. She’s prepared herself for him. And now, when she
reaches to get the doorknob (you know, to open the door), her hands are dripping
with myrrh. And it get’s all... And then when she opens, then here’s his cheeks
flushing out here. Everything looks so sweet and so enticing! So
enticing!
Some people make
the way of salvation so hard until people don’t want it, but it’s the best life
that you can live if you get in it. If you get in Christ and Christ get’s in you
there’s nothing like it. Amen. It’s not a hard way. It is a precise way, it’s a
pure way, but it’s full of sweet smelling odors and all of the blessings of life
and everything. There’s nothing that can hinder you from enjoying your salvation
but one thing, and that’s you. You’re the only person that can stand in the way
of your peace and your happiness in serving God. See? You’re the only one that
can do it. You can let things pile up, you can bottle things, you can feel sorry
for yourself if somebody starts kicking you around; all of these things, but,
you see, you bring that on yourself. Because if you’ll search in the Scripture,
all of these things are a promise to the Bride. See? She’s got to suffer these
things. She’s got to go through these things.
Brother Branham
said..., Like old David... I told my little girl a little story last night and
she said..., coming on over the road I told her about David and the giant. And
she said “Daddy, I just like that.” And she said..., coming on over the road
this morning she said, “Daddy, will you tell me that story again, about David
and the giant?” I said, “Well honey, I ain’t got time to tell you that now. I’d
get to the church before I’d get through with it.” But I said, “I’ll tell it to
you again.” Well you see, when you think about old David. He was determined...
Whatever come and whatever went, he had God before him. It wasn’t David that
slew the giant, he just threw the rock. God is the one that did the rest.
Amen.
So, we don’t
overcome the devil, we just obey God, and He already has overcome the devil! And
so, if He has already overcome him, then he has no right, amen, to come sticking
around and putting his nose in our business. Amen. And I’m telling you the
truth. I want you to listen to this this morning because it’s real. It is real.
I’ll get back to that in a little bit. You see, Satan’s tried to steal my
thought but I’ll get back to it, don’t worry.
Alright, now watch
now. I’m going to go in some more Scriptures here. Now this 13th Verse, as I
said, it speaks of His lips, (lips of the Bridegroom), and lilies. Like lilies.
Lips of the Bridegroom, like lilies dropping sweet smelling myrrh, dropping
sweet smelling myrrh.
A
bundle of myrrh is my wellbeloved unto me...
Now that’s in the
Song of Solomon, Chapter 1, Verse 13. All of it’s good for this particular thing
that we’re looking at. Let’s look at Verse 13.
A
bundle of myrrh is my wellbeloved unto me; he shall lie all night betwixt my
breasts.
What about that?
You talking about a love affair. Now this is the Bride and the Bridegroom. See?
This is not nasty, if it was it wouldn’t be in here. This is the Word of God.
Amen. If anybody knew anything about a natural way of love, this man must have
known, because, I guess he had every type of woman that could have been gotten.
That’s right. And some of them he really didn’t need. And, you know, he said he
would rather spend the night on the eve of the house, (straddle that thing),
than to stay inside with a brawling woman. The worst thing in the world that you
can have is a brawling woman. That’s the worst thing. One, you know, that’s
always jumping down your throat, jumping down your throat. He said, “I’d just
rather stay on top of the house all night than to be in there.” And he said, (in
the end, you know), “Vanity to vanity, all is vanity.” Amen. So he wrote these
things by experience. Amen. He knew what it was to have a real love life.
Amen.
A
bundle of myrrh is my wellbeloved unto me;...
(And then) All (of his)
garments (are) of myrrh, and aloes,
and cassia...,
How many of you
remember me reading that Wednesday night? Where did I read it from, and of you
remember? Psalms 45, Verse 8. Amen. Alright. You can go back and read that again
if you want to. This myrrh and aloes with all principle spices. Everything mixed
together. Let’s look at Song of Solomon, Chapter 4, Verse 14, and see what He
says here. Verse 14.
Spikenard
and saffron; calamus and cinnamon, with all trees of frankincense; myrrh and
aloes, with all the chief spices:
A
fountain of gardens, a well of living waters, and streams from Lebanon.
All of these things
go in with this anointing that we’re talking about this morning. So that’s why
I’m looking at it. Alright. So we find that she is actually represented coming
out of the wilderness. (Now listen to this.) I have gathered my myrrh with my
spice. I have gathered my myrrh with my spice, see. In other words, this is
after the coming out of the wilderness. Then she is set up like pillars of smoke
perfumed with myrrh and frankincense, with all powders of the
merchant.
Let’s look at
Chapter 3, Verse 6 here, in this Song of Solomon, and see if we can’t... I’ve
been combing this thing this week, you know, and looking at it. It’s good,
that’s all. It’s good. Amen.
Until
the day break, and the shadows flee away, I will get me to the mountain of
myrrh, and to the hill of frankincense.
Get the mountain of
myrrh and the hill of frankincense.
Thou
art all fair, my love; there is no spot in thee.
Huh? Without spot
or blemish or any such thing. Is that right? That’s exactly what the Scripture
said. Alright, now. So let’s flee to the mountain of myrrh and the hill of
frankincense because it’s a safe place that the Bridegroom has invited the Bride
to.
We don’t have to be
tossed about with everything, every little idea of the devil. You say, “Well,
Brother Holmes, I don’t see the devil. I don’t know where he’s at.” He could be
in your neighbor. He could be in your bossman. Hmm? He could be in your dog.
Anything to aggravate you. Amen. Anything to upset you is not God. So there’s
only two spirits, is that right brother? There’s only two spirits in the world.
So if it’s an aggravating spirit, (I don’t care where it comes from), it’s not
of God. See? Huh? You say, “Well now, Brother Holmes, what about these Christian
people that aggravate us?” Well, it can happen. Yes sir, it sure can happen.
They can sometimes let the wrong spirit get on them. That’s right. And they can
believe that they’re so right in something, until God shows them different. See?
But if they’re real, true, borned-again children of God, the Lord will show them
different. He’ll show them different. But sometimes we need to flee by
invitation of the Bridegroom to that mountain of myrrh and that hill of
frankincense. Hide away in a place where nothing can bother you See? And all of
the shadows of life flee away. Amen. Everything will flee away at that time.
Alright.
There is something
else that I want to warn you of this morning. In Proverbs 7, I believe it is, if
you’ll turn there. I want to read... I want you to read Verse 17. It’s a pitiful
thing but it is the truth.
The adulteress
woman which is, actually, a type of the professing Christian. And she professes
to be all perfumed up with all of these aloes that the Bride is perfumed
with.
I
have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
That’s not the
Bride. That’s the world. That’s the enticing things of the world. That’s right.
So that’s not of God. See? Alright, now. She claims that she is using the same
thing, see. If you just want to look at it in type, I’ll tell you what do. Go to
the “Anointing Ones At The End Time”and study that message and you’ll see that
that’s exactly what is happening right here. See? In other words those people
that are anointed, they’re anointed with the same Holy Spirit. See, this woman
has got the same myrrh, she’s got the same aloes, she’s got the same cinnamon,
she’s got the same cassia, everything. She’s got all of it. And she’s anointed
when she smells good. See? And she’s prepared the bed for you. Come in and
commit adultery with her. See? Spiritually. That’s what I’m.... You know, the
people that bear down on the truth of “Marriage and Divorce”, one day when they
stand before God and find out that they have did the thing that cannot be
forgiven, they committed spiritual adultery by denying the Word of God and
claiming to be married to Him! That’s right. You say, “Now listen...” I’m
talking about that anointed ones at the end time. Amen. They claim to have it
all. Yes sir, they claim to have every bit of it and they do have the anointing.
Brother Branham said, “It’s the true anointing.” That’s right. Amen. But, you
see, we have to be careful, don’t we?
So now, these
spices give out their fragrance through this oil. Right? In other words, all of
these spices are mixed into this oil. Then the oil is the foundation of it. It’s
what it’s all mixed up in, that oil. All of these things, all of these gifts and
spiritual blessings is mixed up in the Holy Ghost. All of it’s right there. When
you’re anointed with the Holy Ghost, every bit of it... If you are a child of
God and the Holy Spirit is in your life and you have been changed from death
unto life, you have been resurrected, all of the sweetness of God... (blank
space)
And I can’t help it
if you don’t. But Brother T.B., before this Bride leaves there’s going to be
peace in every home that that Bride is a part of. Amen. She’s not going to be
fussing and fighting with one another. Amen. Did you hear me? Amen. Because if
He is not big enough to bring peace to the home, Brother Don, He’s not big
enough to change my soul. If He’s big enough to do one of those things He’s big
enough to do the others. Amen. When the right tactics, when the right approach
is carried out, it’s going to bring peace in the home. Amen. The hardest thing
in the world for a man to do is to do what the Scriptures says do. “Be good to
them that persecute you, and say all manner of evil against you. Heep coals of
fire on their head...” Holy fire. Amen. “...Pray for them that despitefully use
you.” What happened brother? I didn’t have this one down. Huh? But, you see, you
can’t be at one another’s throat and be a part of the Bride. Amen. You can’t do
it. Amen. You’ve got to be at peace.
You say, “Well, You
just don’t know what I have to live with!” Well, you know, Brother Branham gave
us an example of all of it, didn’t he? This old drunkard, you know, he just...
His wife probably thought he didn’t think nothing of her. Is that right? But she
was a real Christian, see. And so he was out there with the boys, and one night
they were all talking about what they thought about this and what they thought
about that. He said, “You come and go home with me and I’ll show you a real
Christian.” See? “I’ll show you a real, genuine Christian.” Amen. You like this,
Brother John? I love this, you know. A real Christian. So he come in kicking
things around and stomping around, and he said, “Wife, fix me some eggs and
ham!”, or whatever... She said, “Yes, honey. I...” She went right on and she
fixed all that stuff and she brought it and put it on... He throwed it out and
said, “That’s not the way I want it, I want...!” She said, “Alright honey, I’m
so sorry. I...” Huh? A real Christian! Huh? She was dead and resurrected to
life! She didn’t jump on him and start pulling his hair and telling him how bad
he was. “I don’t have to do that. I’ll take your clothes off of you in court!”
Uh, uh. No, uh, uh. No sir. She went and fixed him another plate. Oh! A real
Christian. Amen. All the time he was proving to these boys, “I’ve got a real
Christian wife.” Amen. You haven’t been through that yet, have you? See? But,
you see, with this Holy Ghost, all of this sweetness, myrrh, cinnamon, cassia,
(ever what that is), and all of this comes in there with that anointing. It all
comes in there with it. See? And so, if we’ve got the Holy Ghost, we’ve got all
of that. If Aaron had the oil put on him he had the myrrh. He had the cinnamon.
He had all of it in that oil. If you’ve got Christ, you’ve got it
all!
You know the
biggest problem we’ve got? You want me to tell you? It’s the old house we live
in. That’s the biggest problem. If we can ever, if we can ever, Brother T.B.,
conquer this house, we’ve got it then. But we’ve got to conquer this house that
we live in. Amen. When we want to scream out, bite your tongue. Bite it hard
enough for it to hurt, amen, and say, “Wait a minute. What would Christ do under
these circumstances? How would He handle this case?” Huh? And then if I’m a
representative of Christ, then... You say, “Well, Brother Holmes, are you
preaching to yourself?” Just as hard as I can. Yes sir! I’ve got some more dying
to do in the flesh! You say, “Well, why are preaching to us?” I’m preaching to
me too. We all need to die more in the flesh! We’re too quick! We’re too sticky!
We’re not always sweet myrrh. We jump back too quick. When somebody don’t
scratch our back just right we’ll try to find something against them if we’re
not careful. The Bible didn’t say do that, it said, ‘Pray for them.’ Amen.
Alright.
So now, we’re
talking about real anointing, aren’t we? Real anointing! These spices gave that
fragrance to Aaron. Everywhere Aaron went he smelled like it. But what was that
myrrh now? Pure? What was it? Liberty? Amen. Alright. So it was like a holy
perfume. Right? Oh my! Well, I’ve got another Scripture over here in Isaiah, and
this is in the 11th Chapter of Isaiah. I want to read now... And I promised
myself this morning, (before I come, I promised God), I said, “Lord, I ain’t
going to get in not hurry, by your grace, today. I want to read these Scriptures
because they mean so much to me.” See? And they’ll mean that much to you.
Alright, Chapter 11, let’s begin at Verse 1.
And
there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow
out of his roots:
And
the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and
understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of know-ledge and of
the fear of the LORD;
And
shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not
judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his
ears:
Whew! That’s a
message, isn’t it? Amen. I don’t see exactly what I think I see. I don’t hear
exactly what I think I hear. Amen. Somebody get a little out of school, you
know, and it’s not like Christ, I’m not going to be quick to judge it. I’m going
to judge the one that caused it. Because Satan got in the arrangements, Brother
Winston, and caused that person to get a little sticky.
Sometimes...,
Brother Don, sometimes..., you know what it is to minister, I know what it is to
minister. Sometimes we can be pulled away from our prayer life a little bit too
long and that’s exactly what Satan wants, and he’ll jump right in. Amen. He’s
got a right if you ever leave a gap for him to stick his dirty foot in, don’t
you think he won’t do it. Amen. See, he’ll do it, but if we’ll keep all doors
closed by the fellowship with God, amen, then he has a hard time getting his old
smutty foot in there. He has a hard time making husband and wife feel bad at one
another. Sisters and brothers. Amen.
You know, we preach
a lot of discipline to our children and we bear down hard, like I said Wednesday
night. Don’t we? And that’s good. That’s fine. But the thing of it is, with
that, we have got to show compassion. We have got to show them what it takes to
get shed of that stuff. The problem is the root. See? Get all of it uprooted.
Years ago I preached on that. I done forgot what message it was in but I talked
about, you know, uprooting the thing. Years ago. Alright.
You notice here all
of these things, all of these things was going to be in that root and offspring
of David. See? Alright. Everything was going to be identified in him. The Spirit
of the Lord shall rest upon him. That’s what the Scripture says. Alright, now.
Then that brings it back to the Bride because Brother Branham said, “All that
was in God He poured it into Christ.” How much of Christ did He pour into the
Bride? All of it, all of it. Amen. Alright. So the spirit of wisdom and
understanding, the spirit of counsel and of might, the spirit of knowledge and
of the fear of the Lord. And what did it say He would do about his
understanding? Make it quick. You know, make that understanding quick. We can
understand the Word, amen, alright, in the fear of the
Lord.
Somebody’ll say,
“Well, we’re not suppose to fear the Lord.” Well, my mercy, I don’t know why.
The fear of the Lord, not being afraid that He’s going to send us to hell, but
the type of fear is, Lord, help me to walk like I’m suppose to walk. Like that
high priest, Brother Gerald, that goes in behind there, he’s got a bell and he’s
got a pomegranate and when he walks he’s got to walk a certain way. “Holy, holy,
holy, Lord God, Almighty.” We’ve got to come to a place, and I think the Bride
is coming there, and they’ve got to come there, regardless of how many it is.
They’ve got to come to that place to where they realize that every day of their
life they’re walking in the presence of God, which is the Word. See? Walking in
His presence. Alright Now how am I going to act? If I knew that Jesus was
sitting right here in this chair, this morning, how would I try to preach? I
would want to say everything that would please Him, wouldn’t I? I would want to
say everything that would please my Lord. Amen. And yet, He’s present in every
conversation. Huh? He’s present all the time, omnipresent. And sometimes we
forget and we don’t let that myrrh drop from our lips and from our tongues, in a
blessing way.
Let’s just take a
couple examples, alright? Jesus at the well, the woman at the well, alright. She
was as filthy as filthy could be as far as the priest looked at her. That’s
right. I mean, she was no good, actually she wasn’t. She was a whore, (If you’ll
excuse the expression.) she was a prostitute, that’s what she was. Amen. But
when Jesus started talking to her, He never started beating her over the head
and telling her, “You’ve been out with this man, and you’ve done this, and
you’ve done this, and now you’re going to hell.” Did He? But He said, “Would you
give me a drink of water.” Amen. “Give Me something.” She said now... The first
thing she thought of, was prejudice, just like black and whites, you know. Not
only black and whites are prejudice to one another, but whites and whites are
prejudice. Blacks and blacks are prejudice. You don’t have to be a color to be
prejudice to one another. Amen. Your feelings to one another brings prejudice.
Feelings. It don’t make no difference what the color is. Amen. But she said,
“You know what, I’m a Samaritan and You’re a Jew, and You’re asking me for a
drink of water.” And said, “Anyway, You don’t have anything to draw with and
this well is deep.” He carried His conversation a little farther, and He has not
yet condemned her. Not yet has He condemned her. What? Alright. Now listen. Is
the Bride suppose to be like that? Is that right, brother, is that right? Are we
suppose to be that way? Now look. Then He said, “But if you knew who it was that
asked you for a drink, if you just knew who it was that asked you for a drink,
then you’d ask Me for a drink, and I’d give you a drink and you wouldn’t thirst
no more.” Huh? She said, “Well, You don’t have anything to draw with.” She said,
“But anyway, will You give me a drink of that water and I won’t have to come
here and draw no more,” You know, He said, “Well, I’ll tell you what I’ll do. If
you’ll go get your husband and bring him and come back here, I’ll give you a
drink of water.” Now you know that wasn’t exactly what He said, was it? But that
was the essence, “go get your husband.” And she said, “I have none.” Well, then
He showed who He was. See? And all the time, myrrh is dripping from His lips.
Amen. Is that right? All the time, this sweetness is coming from His lips toward
that woman. She’s getting saturated with something that’s coming real that she’d
never heard before. She had never saw this, she’d never been treated like this
before. She couldn’t even come and draw water with the rest of the women. She
had to wait until all of them come and drawed, she wasn’t good enough. And this
man is actually spraying her with all kinds of myrrh, frankincense and aloes. Oh
my! She said, “This has got to be something different.” Amen.
I wish, I wish,
that we, as message people, could see that! Instead of condemning, spray them
with myrrh, get their attention. There’s so many thirsty people but not too many
wells to draw from. You hear me! There’s a lot of thirsty people in the world
today and very few wells to draw from. Amen. That’s right. Most everybody is
condemning. Amen. Now, let us look. She said, “I just don’t have not husband.”
Well, He said, “You did tell the truth.” But He said, “You see, You had five of
them and the one you’re living with now, he’s not your husband.” Well, she saw
something, she saw something in that man, and she said, “Sir, I believe that You
are a prophet. We know that when the Messiah comes, He’s going to tell us these
things, He’ll do it.” He said, “Well, I’m Him.” That’s all He had to say,
brother. She took off as hard as she could. He’d done sprayed her with so much
myrrh and frankincense, she couldn’t take no more. She said, “Come on. Hey did
you know what? I saw a man over there that told me all things that ever I done.
Come over. You don’t believe it? Come see.” Amen.
Why here come all
the... half the town out there, to see about it. Amen. That’s right. Why!
Because of His attitude toward her. Does it make any sense? Huh? It does, don’t
it Brother Don? It does. If we can pray until God puts so much love in our heart
for people! Not the spirits that direct them, but the people, God will do
something! Amen. But we let the spirit aggravate us so much we forget and we
can’t see the person! We can’t see the person for the spirit that’s dominating
them! Amen. And so, we want to pound on that spirit all the time and we don’t
want to spray that person with enough of myrrh and frankinsence and let them get
a hold of something that will conquer that spirit. Amen. Are you listening?
Amen! I’m going to preach it just like I see it. That’s
right.
There was another
occasion. A bunch of pharisees, (I ain’t got much patience with them, they’ve
already made up their mind. Amen.) they caught this old girl over there in the
very act of adultery. They said, “Now, we’re going to see what this man of
Galilee has to say about this.” Huh? “We’ll see where He stands on this. We know
what Moses said about this, so now let’s go see.” They took her up and brought
her and throwed her right down at His feet, where she’d been looking all of her
life. She’d been searching for that all of her life. Amen. Said, “Now we caught
her in the very act of adultery, and Moses law said, ‘stone her’, what do You
say?” Huh? Oh! He stooped down and wrote on the ground. He took His time.
Wisdom, wisdom.
We don’t use it a
lot of time, we fire like a bullet, a machine gun. Amen. After it’s got out it’s
so hard, you can’t get it back in. It’s gone, see? Amen. That’s the thing I’ve
always admired, so much, about our great example, Brother T.B. I love this man.
I’ve watched him. ....?.... under all kind of conditions....?.... pressure’s
being put on, I’ve watched him wait, and with few words, full of wisdom. He’s
worth listening to. Amen. I’ve never seen him upset. That’s right. Well, I’ve
told you so many times, “Pattern your life after something like that.”
Amen.
Jesus used a lot of
wisdom and He stooped down and wrote on the ground and then He got up and He
said, “Well, (He picked up a stone), Moses did say that. That’s exactly right.
That’s exactly what Moses said. Now, you that are clean, you that haven’t got
nothing in your life, you that are absolutely without sin, cast the first
stone.” Something to think about, isn’t it? So He stooped down and wrote on the
ground again and He got up and there wasn’t nobody there but the woman. Oh my!
I’m talking about real Christian way of handling things, see? Said, “Woman,
where are these that accuse you?” She said, “I don’t have none.” Now listen to
this. “I don’t have none.” He said, “And neither do I accuse you.” “Neither do I
accuse you, even though you were caught in the act of it. Just go on and do it
no more.” Amen. Wheeww!
I’m talking about a
Christ-like Spirit, myrrh and frankincense dripping from your lips and your
heart producing the right words to say. I read all of it in there. There was a
man sitting by the wayside one time, Brother Chris, and he had a need. He had a
little old cup in his hand and he heard a big crowd of people coming down. He’s
not going to get too busy to stop and listen to you. But the problem is, we get
so busy, we don’t have time to stop and listen to Him. We’re so busy, see. Huh?
So what he done, he heard this thing, “Jesus!, thou son of David, how mercy on
me.” Amen. The world is crying for mercy but they don’t know where to go get it.
I’m telling you the truth, the message churches has got to be as bad as the rest
of them, they’re at one anotherthroat. So they don’t know where to go. Amen. But
there is a place, there is a place that they can go. So Jesus stood still, the
disciples, no doubt saying..., they hadn’t been converted, and they said, “You
ain’t got time to fool with him, he’s an old blind man, go on.” Jesus said,
“Would you bring him over here? Just bring him to Me.” Amen. “I’ve got some
myrrh and some frankincense that he needs.”
The world’s dying
for it. Amen. Our neighbors might be hungry for it Amen. Your wife might be
hungry for a little bit of it. Or maybe the husband wants some. Amen. Is it
dropping from our lips? You say, “Brother Holmes, why don’t you preach.” That’s
what I’m doing with all of my heart this morning. I’m talking to you where we
live. Amen. Where we live. Amen. When they brought him over the first thing that
Jesus said was, He ask him a question. You notice that? He didn’t say, “Have you
paid your tithes? Did you pray in the marketplace today?” Huh? “Have you carried
that little lamb down there and all?” No, he didn’t say none of that. What did
He say? He said, “What do you want Me to do for you?” See, that’s the thing
about it. What do we want Him to do for us? Just give us eternal life or do we
want Him to let us be a spring of water bubbling up into eternal life? Amen.
“What do you want Me to do?” And He was a man of few words. He said, “Lord, that
I might receive my sight.” Well, you know, that was just as easy for the Lord as
falling off a log, no problem at all. So what did He do? He just sprayed him
full of myrrh and frankincense and told him to “go on and receive your sight.”
Amen. Alright. So we find that kind of life that was lived but we don’t find a
whole lot of it today. Amen.
They
caught Jesus, (now listen), they carried Him before the church. Is that right?
They carried Him before the church, Brother John, and said, “Now we want to know
about this gospel that You’re preaching to these people.” You’ll find that in
the 18th Chapter of St. John, and the 20th Verse. You’ll find out what Jesus
answered and told them. He said, “Now look, I have preached in the synagogues
daily, I’ve done all of these things and I have not done one thing in secret.
Everything I’ve done has been in the open. Why do you ask Me these things?” That
hypocrite! See? So different from the woman at the well. So different from the
woman that was caught in the act of adultery. So different from Bartimeus. He’s
the high priest. Accusing. “What’re you doing with this kind of doctrine going
around?” Well, Jesus said, “It hasn’t been done in a corner, I did it all
through....” The high priest didn’t know what to do so he turned Him over to
Pilot. Then they stood out there and hollered and screamed, “Crucify Him, kill
Him. Let His blood be upon us and upon our people.” See?
Alright.
So, but what we’re
looking at is a man that was so full of the anointing that that anointing was
running out on somebody else all the time. All the time. If they come to Him in
the right way. He was filling their lives with it. Amen. I want to give you some
Scriptures to read here and I want you to jot them down if you will. In
Proverbs, Chapter 12, Verse 18, Proverbs 13, (Some of you may not have a
pencil.) Proverbs 13, Verse 14, Proverbs 15, Verses 2 and 7, Proverbs 16, Verse
23. Somebody said the last time I give them out, Brother Kenan said, “My wife
writes pretty fast...,” and said, “...she couldn’t get them.” Did you get these,
now, did you get them, everybody that had a pencil? Now.
Alright.
So where does this
grace really come from? What is grace? Unmerited favor, isn’t it? That woman
that was caught in the act of adultery didn’t deserve that grace but she got it.
The woman at the well didn’t deserve it but she got it. Bartimeus didn’t deserve
it but he got it. Amen. Grace. Now that grace, actually, come from His heart not
from His lips. But His heart sprayed
myrrh, and frankincense. And it come from His heart into these people,
upon these people, that’s exactly what happened. So, grace proceeding from the
heart of love, it’s go to be genuine. Brother Branham said, “The way I stopped
that bull, (that fighting bull), was with love. The way I stopped those hornets
and put them back in their nests was with love. The way these healings are
done..., he said, ...is through love.” He said when that maniac come before him
and was going to tear him apart, he saw Satan using that man and he felt sorry
for him. He had sympathy for him. Amen. He didn’t want to strike him dead, he
felt for him. He was in trouble, amen, and he needed help. Alright. All of this
was pouring, actually, from His heart of love, coming from a heart of love. It
was poured into His lips and then into the person. You’ll find that in Psalms
45, Verse 23. I read it Wednesday night. I’m going back and trying to bring up
some of these things that we’ve already covered, because I don’t want to miss
them, see. I know my time’s gone and I’m not quite through yet. But let’s just
look on a little bit now.
If our hands and
our fingers are dropping with myrrh, see, then that’s wisdom and understanding
of this Scripture. See? And it’s the handling of the Word of this day with
wisdom. Amen. There’s a way to go about talking to people and testifying and
witnessing to people. It’s got to be with love. You’ve got to have a feeling for
that person, you’ve got to have a real deep feeling, see. Instead of condemning,
you give an invitation, you know. There’s one thing about it, if somebody sees
that you’re happy and they’re not happy, they want to know what you’ve got that
makes you happy. Is that right? They want to know, “Well, what is this?” See?
You can say, “I’ll tell you what, I met a man one time at the well and He told
me that He would give me a drink of water, and if I would take that water and
drink it that I wouldn’t thirst anymore and it would be like a well of living
water springing up into eternal life. I took a drink of that water and I’m still
rejoicing over it.” Amen.
Well, that person’s
going to get thirsty just as sure as you are born. If there’s any seed in there
that person’s going to get thirsty. They’re going to want a drink of that water
and say, “How can I get this?” So then it comes.... Now this living Word, this
living Word, which is given to us today is suppose to make people thirsty. See?
It’s suppose to make the children of God thirsty. The Seed of God, they’re
suppose to get thirsty because that is suppose to be the water for that seed. Is
that right? See? In other words, if there’s a seed in there, then, you can water
it all you want to with old well water. You can have an old cistern out there
and you can take that old stuff out
there and water your garden all you want to but it won’t do no good. It might
make it perk up a little bit, momentarily, but you just let heavens open up,
just one time let heaven open up and let that rain come down, then watch and see
what happens. See?
What we’ve got to
do is not throw some kind of denomination to them, not throw some kind of
preacher to them. You say, “You ain’t got nothing to back...” Oh, yes I have!
Old Philip, he was going down across the desert there, Brother Josh, one day and
he was going down for another meeting. He’d already had one and he had a good
success and he was going for another one. And the Lord said, “Go join to that
chariot. This old chariot was coming out from Jerusalem up there, it was a black
man, you know, and Philip, I guess, was a white man, I don’t know. Anyway, he
went and stepped up on that chariot and looked in there, the man was reading
from Isaiah 53. He said, “Now do you understand what you’re reading?” He said,
“How can I, I don’t have nobody....” Now he’d just come from the big meeting up
there, (the big festival), up there at the church. See? That’s right. The big
church, synagogue, and he didn’t know what he was reading Amen.
There’s a lot of
people that go to message churches and they don’t know what’s in that Message.
Amen. God forbid that it’ll ever happen here. We want to tell them about it,
Brother John. We want to tell them what he said. So look, what did this fellow
do, Philip? He started right there.... Now he didn’t come over there and say,
“Well, I’ll tell you what, I got this degree and I went to school over here and
I come up under this man and I went to that man and I joined this church and
I’m....” (Listen!) “I’m well thought of and I just had a great revival over here
and I’m going down to see if I can have another one.” He didn’t say none of
that, did he? What did he do? He started at that Scripture and preached Jesus to
that man. That’s what we need! We need the Message preached to the people, which
is Jesus Christ of this day! Amen. And he said, “Well, I’ll tell you....” In
that Message of Jesus he must have got into water baptism because coming down
across a little pond of water, he said, “Well here’s water, now what’s going to
hinder me from being baptized? I’ve heard this Message.” He said, “Well, I’ll
tell you what, if you’ll believe with all your heart, I’ll just baptize you.” He
said, “I do. I believe it.” All that myrrh had come out, you know, and
frankincense and all that, right out of a heart of love from old Philip. Carried
him down and baptized him while that eunuch was standing there looking. Philip
was gone. The Spirit of God picked him up. He had done his job well. The Spirit
of God picked him up and carried him on over and he was found over there in
another place preaching the same gospel. Amen. So God’s a big God, He can do all
things. Amen.
Alright. So the
spirit of counsel rested also upon Christ, according to what we’ve read this
morning, isn’t that right? See, His Name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor,
the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace. So, He is also
counselor. He understood what He was suppose to do. Like I said, this is just a
message this morning of edification. He understood, Brother Don, what He was
suppose to do. What was He suppose to do? What was Jesus suppose to do, will
somebody tell me? The will of the Father that sent Him. Amen. That’s exactly
what He said He was suppose.... And He never tried to go and counsel nobody. He
never tried to go and raise no dead, He never tried to heal nobody until He
first had counsel with the great Spirit, God. He said, “I do nothing of Myself”,
right? So it’s like a train out there on the track. Have you ever seen them when
they, these old steam engines? They used to pull the throttle down on them
things and they’d say.... (Brother Holmes imitates the sound of a steam engine),
and they ain’t going nowhere. The steam’s going out the stack, and the wheel’s
are spinning like that. Then after awhile it’d say.... (steam engine
imitation)....
.... Pentecostalism
in us. We blow a lot of steam out the stack, and spin our wheels. The first
thing we want to tell them is about the “Serpent Seed”, or “Marriage and
Divorce.” Polygamy. You’ve got to get that told first. That’s the worst thing in
the world you could do. Look how long it was before it was ever opened up to us.
Huh? In the last church age. So why don’t you take them up one step at the time,
and say, “How was you baptized? Have you ever heard about the true water
baptism?” I’ll tell you what, I’ve got a picture in my pocket you ought to have,
of the cloud. You lady folks ought to carry one in your pocket-book. Huh? “Did
you ever see.... You ever hear what happened over here in Arizona?” Start
telling them some of the things and they’re going to get real thirsty if you’re
not careful. ‘Cause what are you doing? You’re spraying myrrh and frankincense.
Amen. You’re getting them interested, amen, getting them interested in
something. Yes. And then, after awhile, they’ll say, “Well, listen, where can I
hear some more about that?” “Well, there’s a little place over there in Coral
Park, you could come over there and hear it, or I’ll be glad to give you a
Church Ages book and let you read that.” Huh? The Message is just about covered
in that. That’s right. It’s one of the best books you can give anybody, is the
Church Ages book. Let them study it. Alright.
So now, here He
comes down, then, this man, full of myrrh, full of frankincense. He comes down
to the last few steps of His life. Now what He has done.... And I know it’s
after twelve o’clock and I hope you’re spiritually hungry, because that’s what
we need. Now listen, I looked at my watch awhile ago and it was exactly twelve
o’clock. I ain’t going to look at it no more. Because, if you go out to eat, you
won’t have to stand in a crowd after while. Amen. See? But now, let’s see, all
of the prophecy that had been spoken of this man had been fulfilled, now He’s
hanging on a cross. Everything has been fulfilled but one thing and He’s knows
that that’s got to be fulfilled. He knows that that last part has got to be
fulfilled. What was the last thing He ask for? He said, “I thirst.” I thirst.
Because they had to give Him vinegar and gall on a hyssop, to fulfill the
Scripture. Amen. The last thing before He bowed His head and breathed those
precious words, “It is finished”, He said, “I thirst.” I
thirst.
Oh, how many people
today are thirsting? They’re getting the same thing, that Jesus got, offered to
them. Amen. Do you understand what I’m saying? They’re not getting the myrrh and
the frankincense, but they’re getting vinegar and gall. “Well, you don’t want to
go over there. Well, you know what they believe over there? Well, do you know
this....? Did you hear about so and so?” You’ll never win nobody like that. No.
If you want to win somebody, talk good about everybody. Like I said Wednesday
night, I don’t care how bad a person is, if you look long enough, you can see
something good about them. Talk about that, talk about that good part. Amen. And
them blessings will come back on you. Praise the Lord! It’s the truth, isn’t it?
It’s the truth. Alright.
I got down to the
point here, to where He said, “I thirst.” And then...., those last words that we
cannot forget under no circumstances. Now remember we’re talking about the
anointing, the anointing, the true anointing. Study the life of Christ, the life
of Christ, from Genesis to Revelation. Study the life of Christ. What was it? It
come back to me, I told you it would, because I was suppose to say it. About
David. You know, Brother Branham said, “They have to say them things about me,”
and he said, that’s what keeps me on my knees.” Is that right? “That’s what
keeps me humble.” Let them talk about me, let them go ahead. It’ll make me pray
more if I’m the right kind of Christian.
Old David walking
along there one day and that little crippled fellow spit on him and called him
so and so. David’s guard pulled out the sword and he said, “Let that head stay
on that dog.” David said, “Wait a minute, let him alone. The Lord told him to do
that. Amen. Just leave him alone.” Sometimes... You wait, maybe Wednesday night,
when we get into some of these things about saying, “We’re led by the Spirit,
Spirit of God told us this, the Lord told us this, I felt impressed this.” We’d
better be careful! We’d better know! We’d better know that it’s Him. Amen.
Alright.
David was a man
after God’s own heart, amen. And he knew, he knew, that that little fellow was
doing exactly what God had told him to do. And He was testing old David. David
had some of that sweet-smelling perfume that we’re talking about this morning,
the anointing oil. It is a perfume that is so rich until it’s like.... I hate to
type it like this, and I’m closing, but I’ve got to type this. How you train a
coon dog? You get an old coon hide don’t you? Is that what you do? You drag that
coon hide around, and that dog smells that, and he’ll climb a wall. I mean, he’s
after that. See? Amen.
How are you going
to be led to the Lord? Huh? How did Boaz let Ruth know that he was really
interested in her? Huh? He told them servants out there, he said, “Just drop a
handful on purpose.” Oh my! It’s so rich! It’s inexhaustible! You can keep
talking about it and talking about it, and it gets bigger and better all the
time! So she just kept following him and following him. Where did she wind up?
She wound up down there in the harvest floor, with the Lord of the harvest.
Amen. The Lord of the harvest! And he was laying there asleep and all of a
sudden she slipped in there and laid down at his feet, not at his head. She lay
down at his feet. She reached over and got his garment, (his cover), and she
pulled over her. What was she saying? “I want to be one with you.”
Amen.
Do you want to be
one with Him? If you do, you’re going to be willing, amen, to take the myrrh and
the frankincense and all these sweet things along with the bitter, along with
gall, along with the persecuting and everything, to be like Jesus.
Amen.
Come on Sister. “To
be like Jesus. On earth I want to be like Him...” Amen. Let us stand. Is He good
to us? He’s so good to us, and this anointing oil, it just run down over.... I
had a quote here that I wanted to read but I’m not going to read it now, but it
was what Brother Branham said about Aaron's anointing, and about, that he had to
be washed before he was anointed. Amen. So, Jesus had to be baptized before He
was anointed.
Alright, “To be
like Jesus, on earth I want to be like Him...” I do!, and I see a need, more, to
be like Jesus, now, than ever before in my life. I don’t know whether it’s my
age, or whether it’s the time that we’re living in or what it is. But I see a
great need and I have a desire; pulling. I want to be more like Him.
Amen.
Congregation
sings.
Listen children, I
want to ask you something this morning and I don’t want you to answer me, but I
want you to search your heart. Is there anybody in this world that you have a
bad feeling toward, that you haven’t forgiven them for everything or anything
that they would do, or ever have done? Do you hold a grudge against someone or
is there a little bit of bitterness that, maybe, has been uncovered this
morning, by the Word of God? Don’t let it stay there. If we don’t forgive
everybody, of everything that they have ever said or done against us, our
heavenly Father will, in no wise, forgive us of anything. That’s exactly what
the Scripture says. Amen.
Congregation sings
again.
Praise His name.
Amen. Just to be like Jesus. Amen. I’m going to ask Brother Don if he’ll come
on. Let’s sing that chorus one more time.
Congregation
continues singing.
Brother Don closes
service with comments and prayer.
